Indian PM Narendra Modi expresses his condolences to Sri Lanka - also launches a mission on behalf of Sri Lanka

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a message on his official Twitter account on Friday (28), expressed his condolences over the disaster situation faced by Sri Lanka and indicated that India is ready to help Sri Lanka at any time.

The Indian Prime Minister also pointed out in his Twitter message that an operation named 'Operation Sagar Bandhu' has been launched for Sri Lanka, under which India has taken steps to urgently send relief materials and essential HADR assistance.The tweet is shown below.

 

 

Shortly after the Twitter message was issued, Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar also issued a tweet confirming the launch of Operation Sagar Bandhu and stating that the first batch of relief materials had been provided to Sri Lanka under it.

 

 

Also, in a tweet today (29), the Indian Foreign Minister had informed that a C-130 J aircraft carrying about 12 tons of humanitarian aid, including tents, tarpaulins, blankets, hygiene kits and ready-to-eat food items, had arrived in Colombo under Operation Sagar Bandhu.
